Through a game of displacement, Karim Ould diverts the everyday object, highlights urban architectural features and ornamental motifs. He gives new life to harmless objects, detaches them from their primary uses, decontextualizes them or makes fun of their initial functions.
If the encounters between the symbolic dimension of each object, word or image used in Karim Ould's works, and the materials, the contexts, create new meanings that could be said to be poetic, his research often leads him to give his works a political dimension.
