Masks usually conceal the wearer's face, changing his or her true identity to that of a mythical hero, animal or spirit. The recent crisis has led us all to protect ourselves behind a mask, as a barrier against a virus, but also against others seen as a potential danger. Our features and expressions are more than just our eyes.
FACÉTIE goes against the grain of the mask-barrier, replacing it with openness, invitation and appreciation of each individual. An oval encircles a face that deserves our full attention. Naked, it frames our emotions. Adorned with feathers, tree leaves, etc., according to circumstance and desire, it projects us into an animist universe as well as that of childhood and its games. The branches that held it to our ears, once folded back, finally form an object that, hanging on the wall, continues to look at us.
